Easter for us is usually a big affairthat we have a giant Easter Egg hunt for and we make Easter biscuits and decorate some eggs to roll down the hill.

So with Easter fast approaching bringing with it 2 weeks holiday from school, I thought I’d share with your our list of ‘TO DO’s’

What do you have planned? Do you go all out or is it just another day?

1.EASTER EGG ROCKETS

We plan on trying this idea from Thestemlaboratory for Easter Egg Rockets. These are so simple but the kids will LOVE it.

2. MINI OLYMPICS

The kids have loved watching parts of the Winter Olympics on TV. So I thought with the better weather finally showing up we should try our own. We’ll make mascots, Flags and have all sorts of races and competitions. I bought a bag of chocolate gold coins and we also found these medals and trophies to use for the winners. I’ll spray paint the medals and trophies gold silver and bronze.

Some of the races we will do are tree climbing, fast running, 3 leg race, egg and spoon, sponge race, obstacle course and for the younger kids I like this idea from rainydaymum

3. SNACK CUPS

The children want to see the new Peter Rabbit movie so we’ll make a special trip to the cinema. I like to make up my own snack cups, I LOVE these ones from Shakentogetherlife perfect for Peter Rabbit and Easter!!

I like to keep an eye on the sugar in their cups. Usually, I start with some cheesy savoury biscuits, then some banana chips, smarties are great as they don’t melt easily but watch out for little ones, I then make up some gummy sweets. CC got this set for her Christmas and we love using it to make our own, slightly healthier sweets. I then top up the cups with homemade popcorn and if I have time, we make small cupcakes, like the ones below, so it’s a special treat.

4.PRESSING FLOWERS

We are going to make the best of our Spring Flowers by pressing some of them and drying them flat so we can make a picture to hang on the wall. This post from greetingsofgrace has great instructions on how to do it. Last year the kids also made an extra one to laminate and we turned it into a Spring place mat the kids could use at mealtimes.

5. SPRING SPOTTING.

We’ll being going out to Spot the signs of Spring using out SPRING SPOTTER CHECKLIST. DOWNLOAD YOURS HERE

6. BULB PLANTING

We need to plant our summer flowering bulbs. These were a bargain from our local supermarket but the will fill out my garden in the summer. We are undergoing a renovation to the garden at the moment so there isn’t a place for the bulbs so we decided to plant them in groups in pots, then in summer they can be planted where they are needed.

7. MAKE A MINI GARDEN

My daughter CC, saw this idea on Newgardeniideas to make a miniature fairy garden too so we are going to make her one in the garden that she can look after. She also has a pet rabbit we love to pick leaves for so she’ll grow some of them in her patch to feed her rabbit with.

8. FLOWER POT PEOPLE

WeLOVE this idea from Thewhoot, they have great instructions here too. We are making out own flowerpot people to decorate our garden. These are so much cuter than a garden gnome but double the fun as we can make our own.

9. BUG HOTEL

We will be spending some time at our allotment too, so I want to make a new bug hotel and bee watering hole. I was given this picture and I love it! It’s really tall and will add a fantastic feature to out wildlife area.

10. BAKE SOMETHING TOGETHER

Making something tasty is so easy at Easter time, crispy cakes, pancakes, cakes or biscuits they are all yummy. This year we’re giving Easter bark a go from thegraciouswife. It looks delicious!!

11. MAKE EASTER BASKETS.

This year we are making ones like this from beafunmum. So simple with a couple of paper plates but sturdy for the little ones.

BONUS 12. EGG HUNT

We ALWAYS have an Easter Egg hunt. Each year, I fill over 100 of the refillable plastic eggs and hide them all over the woods or our garden. The kids make Easter baskets in the morning and then spend the afternoon searching for their eggs. I normally use these mini eggs in half of them and in the rest. We try to find things that are non-chocolate to amuse the kids and lessen the sugar rush.
